The entire soundtrack has been done by Daft Punk, and it's every bit as mind-blowing as I had hoped. A little while ago, I heard the first single from the soundtrack. It was a song called Derezzed, and it wasn't much to write home (or in your blog) about. I was a bit concerned that the rest of the album may be the same way, but I've been pleasantly surprised. The soundtrack in its entirety is as absolutely epic as the movie ought to be.
The opportunity for Daft Punk to put together an entire soundtrack gives their music a different mood or feeling than any of their albums. Imagine the serious dance beats of Discovery took the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings to the high school prom, then got the soundtrack pregnant during the dance. The music that is set to accompany Tron Legacy is every bit as righteous as that teen pregnancy could possibly be. Until December, I can only imagine how awesome a massive, table-turning battle set to a Daft Punk score could possibly be. Based on what I know about the the parts that make this whole, the reality is likely even better than my fantasies.
